Campbound
I’m headed to California this week to attend Camp Shutter Sisters and I have to say that I’m kinda pinching myself. When I first heard inklings that Tracey Clark and the Shutter Sisters might be putting together a special gathering of sister photographers, I knew I had to keep my eye out. I did not want to miss it. I’m grateful that I was able to sign up for the retreat back in March (MARCH!) and I have literally been counting down the days ever since.
So as the air is becoming crisper here in Nebraska and the leaves are turning beautiful shades of gold and crimson, I’m preparing to head west to the Pacific coast. I’m packing a ridiculous number of cameras ~ I think I’m bringing five of them ~ loads of film and an extra lens. I’m double checking that I’ve got my chargers, uploader cord, laptop, notebooks and pens, and any and everything else I can think of. I’m already dreaming of the sessions I’ll attend and all the new things I’ll learn. I’m also incredibly excited (and a bit nervous) to meet and spend time with photographers and women whom I truly admire, as well as build community meeting new friends with a common love and passion. So along with my gear, tee shirts, jeans, Chucks, and scarves, I’m packing an open heart and an open mind, leaving the internal demons in the Midwest, and getting ready to dive into this next part of my journey to be an artist.
