It’s often not the grand-sweeping gestures, the big gifts, the scream-it-from-the-rooftops kinda news. Those things don’t make up our everyday lives. At least not mine.
Our My everyday is more often filled with small gestures, little gifts, and whispers. And I have to keep my eyes and ears open for these or they’ll pass right by me. The small bud vases and sweet flowers at my favorite local restaurant. Unexpected mail filled with printed Instagram photos and a lovely hand-written card. Tony going to the store to buy me more Ricola as I lie in bed all of Sunday.
I realize I have to be awake to notice these small kindnesses. It’s easy to be caught up in the to-dos and stressors that also make up
our my everyday. And that busy-ness can drown out the whispers and the small gestures, so much so that we are I am only looking for the earth-shattering stuff. But I realize if I don’t awaken to the truth and wholeness of my everyday, I will miss so much. If I can remember to be attuned to the life that is around me, I will notice all the sweet nothings that are right in front of me. Every day.
