Portrait Bug

I’ve been bitten by the “portrait bug.” As someone who vehemently shied away from shooting photographs of people, I now find myself wanting to find every opportunity I can to take portraits. This is kinda hard as I only live with one person and he isn’t always too thrilled to be the focus of my lens. Luckily, I have some fabulous friends in town who are graciously allowing me to drag them along on photo shoots. I think it’s a win-win situation…I get to satisfy my cravings for shooting portraits and they get to have some artistic photographs of themselves.

I recently shot some photos of a dear friend who is pregnant and expecting her first child with her partner (baby arriving in ~2 weeks!). We had fun walking around downtown, finding interesting backdrops, and shooting photographs of her growing belly. My hope is that she felt seen while I was photographing her. That she felt her own love for her soon-to-arrive babe, and felt my love toward her and all the beauty I see in this captured moment.

I’m excited to share more of my portrait photography here at Life Refocused. Have you been bitten by any “bugs” lately?

  1. Good for you.
I can’t get over my fear of portrait work. Feels like a serious gap.
