Love this post on adventure and gratitude...Now I want to go to RMNP and do this hike too! You, me, Tony, and Tom need to go hiking. You would have loved Zion, I think :) It reminds me of a similar sunrise mountain climb I did in Egypt when my best college friend and I climbed Mt. Sinai during the night and watched the sunrise. There is something amazing about being on top of the world at the break of day :)

Will and I got engaged in RMNP - it's a sacred place for Will especially. It wasn't at Chasm, but it did involved a 3-ish departure and climbing up up up into sunrise and goldish-pink morning. I hope I get to hike with you there someday. xo

This reminds me of a hike in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. People wake up about the time you did to hike up to see the Torres ("towers," which are big, rocky spires) at sunrise. We were never quite motivated enough to do it, but I wish we had. I also love this notion of how energizing it is to share an experience of getting up at 2 am with a bunch of like-minded people. I know precisely what you mean. It's a little like being "all in" with the Tribe, isn't it? Could you tell me where this park is? I wonder if it's within driving distance for us in Albuquerque. We are not too far from CO. I am jealous when you go every summer (in a good way).
