I’m grateful for Rebecca asking me to write a prompt for her Relish ’11 series. When I thought about what I wanted to reflect upon for the past year and what I would really want to hear about from others, love was the answer. So I wrote this prompt (featured today): “When in the past year did you feel the most love? Love toward someone or love received?”
As I look back on 2011 and reflect on when I felt the most love, my thoughts and heart drift back to 4 magical days on the coast of Oregon. These 4 days were the culmination of a dream I had held for a few years, a dream of bringing together a group of kindred spirits to create a tribe of support and love for one another and our creative longings. This dream came to life in June 2011 and “grateful” doesn’t begin to express my feelings for the birth of this Tribe. During these 4 days, I indeed felt the most love, both love toward and love received from these amazing women. I felt love for each new Tribe sister. Love for the risk that each woman took to say “yes” to come to this retreat. Love for the trust we each so openly stepped into. Love for the generosity that poured out of us. Love for the vulnerability that each woman showed. Love for the partners and families back home honoring this time and supporting each of us on this journey. Love for the new ideas that were sparked. Love for the encouragement that was given. Love for the creations we made together. Love for the Universe in bringing us together. Love for returning in 2012. Thank you, Tribe Sisters. I love you.
