One Foot In Front of the Other

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013 3

As this new year dawned, I shared with you that my word for 2013 is FORWARD. I’m really thrilled that this word found me. The more I try it on and get used to it, the better it fits me. The “me” right now needs this focus and mantra.

PX680CP_BabyShoes_rsForward is such a perfect reminder to keep putting one foot in front of the other. To keep going. Keep trying. Keep putting myself out there. And I have to say that this forward-business is what creativity is all about. Showing up. Doing the work. And I believe moving forwardpersistence, tenacity — reaps good things. I can feel it coming.

How is your one word coming along and showing up for you so far?

PS — these are MY baby shoes. My father gave them to me for Christmas this year (best gift ever!). Do you remember when getting the traditional white baby shoes bronzed was a “thing?”

  1. Fabulous shoes, fabulous gift! I remember my grandfather’s bronzed baby shoes, sitting on a shelf in my grandparents’ living room. My word is definitely revealing itself in some of the choices I’m making as I think about how I want to organize my year. It’s helping to guide me, to be sure.

I have one of these that was my father’s baby shoe. Pretty sure my hippie parents a) didn’t get me white baby shoes (though that might have been the only kind in the early 70s so I could be wrong) and b) definitely didn’t have them bronzed. But luckily my grandma was into that kind of thing.

So far my word, story, is showing up in the massive (comparatively) amount of reading I’ve managed so far this year. And I’m pretty happy about that.
